Before Move Day — Winter Prep Checklist

❄️

Check the weather forecast

Monitor forecasts 5–7 days before your Worcester move. If a major storm is predicted, talk to your moving company about contingency plans or rescheduling.

🧂

Salt and shovel all walkways

The night before and morning of your move, clear all paths from home to the moving truck. Ice on stairs or walkways is the biggest safety hazard in winter moves.

🛤️

Reserve truck parking early

Worcester has strict winter parking restrictions during snow emergencies. Identify a safe, legal spot for the moving truck as close to your entrance as possible.

📦

Pack cold-sensitive items carefully

Electronics, LCD screens, musical instruments, and plants can be damaged by extreme cold. Wrap them in blankets and load them last — unload first.

🌡️

Warm up both homes

If possible, have heat running at both origin and destination before the movers arrive. Cold furniture is stiffer and more fragile.

🧤

Dress the crew (and yourself)

Layers, waterproof gloves, and boots with grip. Jeans and sneakers are a safety hazard on icy Worcester sidewalks.

On Move Day — What JTR Does for Winter Moves

🛤️

Floor Runners

We lay down floor runners at both homes to protect your hardwood, carpet, and tile from wet boots and tracked-in salt and mud.

📦

Extra Blanket Wrapping

All furniture gets extra blanket protection in winter — wood furniture is especially vulnerable to cold-weather cracking and moisture.

🚛

Pre-Warmed Truck

Our trucks are warmed up before loading begins — no waiting around in the cold for the engine to start.

⚡

Efficient Loading

We work in organized teams to minimize time items spend in the cold. The faster the loading, the less cold exposure for your belongings.

🧂

Ice Management

Our crew brings sand or salt to use on walkways as needed during the move — we don't wait for conditions to worsen.

📋

Weather Monitoring

We monitor Worcester weather on move day. If conditions deteriorate dangerously, we'll discuss options with you immediately.
